Roller Burnishing
Improving metallic surfaces
Roller Burnishing, also known as Deep Rolling, is a mechanical surface treatment, to reduce the surface roughness and improve surface quality integrated into existing machine tools.

Why should you use Roller Burnishing?
Roller Burnishing is widely used in different industries whenever there are high requirements for the surface quality and efficiency.
Advantages:
-
Improved surface quality: Achieves surfaces with Rz < 1µm, which is similar to polishing or fine grinding.
-
Increased product lifetime: Cold work and compressive residual stresses improve the subsurface and increase the lifetime of parts.
-
Cost efficiency: The process is highly efficient and much cheaper then traditional methods like grinding or polishing.
- Integration: Roller Burnishing can be integrated into every machine tool very easily. Which leads to a complete machining in one machine and no internal logistic is needed.

Single-Roller mechanical
Roller Burnishing Tools
Single-roller mechanical Roller Burnishing tools of the EG type are the all-rounders among burnishing tools. They are highly adaptable and are available in various sizes and designs. Generally, the roller is pressed against the surface of the component via a leaf spring assembly. They are available in sizes ranging from the small EG3T up to the EG90, with a rolling force of 8 kN. The modular design allows for the use of different roller variants and clamping methods, enabling the tools to be used for virtually any component on any machine tool.
Multi-Roller mechanical
Roller Burnishing Tools
Multi-roller mechanical Roller Burnishing tools are highly productive and suitable for machining symmetrical round components. Whether the workpiece is a cylindrical bore, a taper, or a cone, the principle remains the same. Several rollers of the same type are arranged around the circumference. These all rest on a support cone. The machining diameter is adjusted by moving the cone, thereby determining the rolling force from the oversize. Thanks to the force-neutral design and the large number of rolling rolls, feed rates of up to 3 mm per revolution can be achieved for bores.
Hydrostatic
Roller Burnishing Tools
HG-type hydrostatic Roller Burnishing tools are available in two different designs: with and without a following system. This type of tool uses a rolling ball as the rolling element. The tools can be used on components with a hardness of up to 65 HRC and always operate under force control. The ball is pressed against the surface of the workpiece via a hydrostatic pressure pad. A rolling pressure of up to 400 bar is applied in the process. The tools are extremely wear-resistant and, thanks to the hydraulic following, ensure a consistently constant rolling force.
